文化祭！！ The School Festival Finalists have been announced!!
So every year Bunka Gakuen has a HUGE culture festival called a “Bunka-Sai” (文化祭). Classes are closed and the whole school is opened up to the public. There are workshops and exhibitions happening in almost every room of every floor! It is prettty awesome. The best part? THE ENTIRE SCHOOL PARTICIPATES! Usually the constituent schools that make up the hivemind that is Bunka operate separately and don’t really collaborate, but this is the time when they all come together, especially the first-year students within the college. They all spend the first six months of the year creating a fashion show. all of them. First, the school chooses keywords as themes – for example, some of the themes this year are ‘folding‘, ‘classic elegance‘, ‘wild flower’, ‘pop regulation‘, etc. The students then pick one of the official themes, and submit their collection ideas based on the theme. Then the whoooole school either plans the show (music, lights, direction) or actually makes the garments. They are always incredibly difficult to make, detailed haute-couture gaerments, so one entire class makes ONE garment each year. That is a lot of work, but they love it! It gives everyone a chance to experience some part of the system, to be a part of the machine for half a year in planning and execution.
Here are some highlights from last years show:
