Niigata Factory Festival!

From October 2 – 6, 2013, all the famous factories in Tsubamesanjou, Niigata, are opening their doors for exploration and experience!

Factories are places that are usually closed to the public, their workers toiling away inside, keeping their productions methods and customers a secret. During this festival over 50 factories will finally open their doors and show you not only what they are up to, and how they do their handwork, but they also allow you do to some workshops!

Read an article in the Japan Times about it.

These factories really run the gamut of production capabilities and products! Here are some examples:

While these factories may not seem at first to be valuable to you as a fashion designer, perhaps you see something in their production methods and materials that you can utilize in a new way. Whats more, you can learn and try things and ask aaaaallllll the questions you want.

Check out their facebook, and their website.

I wish I could make a class trip out of it, but it is too much paperwork. So rent a car and go on a road trip!
