Imperial Court Dress- Western & Eastern- an exhibition at the Bunka Costume Museum

I popped into the new exhibition in the Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum this past week. The Emperor and Empress during Meiji, the period where Japanese people were first introduced to Western clothing, had great taste, and tiny waists! Personally, I love the embellishment, and the incredible capes. Also, It will shock you to see how incredibly small the Empress’s dresses were. Some of them are small like one of those life-sized dolls.

The exhibition runs from October 23 ~ December 21, 2013. It’s usually 500 yen, and open five days a week from 10:00 am ~ 4:30. Please check the official site for more info.
