Bunka Professor Minoru Yokoyama wins (another) Design Award

He did it again!!! Professor Minoru Yokoyama has won ANOTHER design award, this time for his wedding ring design, entitled “Awaseru” or “to put together”, in English. The award is from German Design Contest IF.

The concept behind this pair of rings is the joining together of hearts. The inter-locking rings are a visual image of a “heart to heart” wish bonding together two imperfect human beings. Each ring is notched, representing missing elements of each person, fitting together in a symbol of love and completeness. This ingenuity and artistic inspiration is based in traditional Japanese architecture and joinery employed throughout history, wherein joints were designed to eliminate all unnecessary materials such as screws, nails, or glue.

Congratulations, Yokoyama Sensei!
