Hari-Kuyo, the Needle funeral

Respect your tools.

Every time you break a needle or bend a pin you’re putting to rest a tiny little collaborator in your creative ventures. On February 7th or 8th every year (on the Tokyo side of Japan) people gather to mourn their little comrades at a festival called Hari Kuyo.

It’s happening today! I’m trapped at home, but maybe you can make it out to Shinjuku to lay to rest your friend in some Konyaku or Tofu and say a prayer, hoping for limitless energy and creativity for one more year.
